French director Luc Besson has decided not to sign the petition to free Roman Polanski. He says “I have a lot of affection for him, he is a man that I like very much but nobody should be above the law. I don’t know the details of this case, but I think that when you don’t show up for trial, you are taking a risk.”
Besson has directed great films such as The Professional and also wrote Taken, a great film shedding light on the sex slave trade in Europe (and how it can impact us here). At least one filmmaker refuses to stand for rape.
