So the buzz on the street is that Jennifer Aniston wants to be the next Chelsea Lately. While it would seem fitting to want to watch a talk show with an old friend, and Jennifer would seem to be the consummate host, this rumor is false.

It is interesting how these rumors get started. The story originated in London’s Daily Express newspaper, which claimed that Aniston was doing it not because of the money but because she absolutely wanted to do it.

According to a subsequent article in the New York Post,  the word was that she would be hosting an hour-long show on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). However, the network is also denying this. A spokesperson said to US, “OWN is not in discussions with Jennifer Aniston to host a weekly talk show,”

Aniston’s rep branded the story “absolutely false.”

But the blogs were already out of control, creating their own versions of reality.

For instance, Aniston’s friend, Chelsea Handler, is said to have thought that hosting a talk show would be great return to television for Jennifer. Especially since she hasn’t been on a show since 2004. But I’m guessing that she probably isn’t too upset that her return to the small screen is limited to a few guest appearances. She reportedly earns $5-7 million a movie.

Then, the E channel reports, “It seems that Aniston, 40, wants to duplicate what she saw last month as a guest on the Chelsea Handler show, Chelsea Lately.”

I doubt that a “duplication” of Chelsea Lately or any talk show, for that matter would be a success and wouldn’t be seen through immediately. Besides Chelsea doesn’t usually have such top drawer guests on her show such as Jennifer. (Chewy probably scares them away).

Then they were reporting that Oprah wanted to co-host the show with Aniston. (As if we believe that Oprah would share a stage with anyone).

The source says “Jen became fascinated with the format after spending time with Chelsea,” Express quoted an OWN source as saying. “When she saw Oprah she mentioned that it would be fun to do a chat show and Oprah seized the moment and suggested they front one together for her network.”

While Jennifer has tried her hand at hosting before, as she was reportedly “very comfortable” when she switched spots with Jimmy Fallon on his show, she continues to dismiss the story as untrue.

Jennifer’s rep is quoted as saying that the rumors are “absolutely false.”

I’m sure that if Jennifer ever did decide to host a talk show, she wouldn’t have any trouble finding guests to interview. However, the ever-helpful blogosphere was trying to help her come up with guest ideas. They include, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Vince Vaughn, John Mayer, and Gerard Butler. Thanks guys….
