You rarely read a story in which real life takes the twists where fiction failed when it came to believability. A tragedy that only gets worse, checks off all stereotypical dramatic shockers along the way, and hints at a kind of horror that introduces a new level of sobriety to the holidays.
It is a universal shame when they come in twos. A superstitious fear that they come in threes. But overall a reason to give thanks. For a country that is still the greatest nation on earth.
