Hollywood takes a step to the right?

angelina-jolie-biographyWith the number of Obamacare supporters, in it’s current form steadily declining [58% opposed], it is most surprising [especially to Obama], to see a significant segment of those dissenters from his beloved Hollywood.

This is surprising not only to Obama, but to the leftists who now find themselves opposing him. Can you imagine after 8 years of hatefully begrudging George Bush, to actually disdain the “change” that you were calling for? It has to be a real identity crisis, for sure.

The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that the “generally cozy relationship between Hollywood’s unions and the Obama administration is coming under strain.”

It seems his support for a so-called “Cadillac tax,” which is intended to help finance an overhaul of the nation’s healthcare system, would apply to the most expensive health insurance plans.

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists recently sent a letter to President Obama and congressional leaders begging them to drop the Cadillac tax, saying the tax would “hurt middle-class and low-wage working union members that have negotiated over the years for health benefits at the expense of higher wages to keep pace with the high cost of healthcare.”

Jon Voight, who has been very vocal on his dislike for Obama’s policies, is understandably against Obamacare. He calls it an “immersion into socialism.” But his more, shall we say, progressive daughter, Angelina Jolie has spoken out against it as well.

Us magazine quotes a source close her as saying, “She hates him.”
“She’s into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise. Angie isn’t Republican, but she thinks Obama is all smoke and mirrors.”

Conservative Law and Order actress, Angie Harmon is very happy the bill didn’t pass.

“I am overjoyed. There’s probably 15-20 million people that it (Obama’s plan) might or might not have worked for … out of 300 million,” Harmon said. “And what happened in [Massachusetts] shows that the people have spoken, it’s not something we’re interested in and I agree wholeheartedly. I’m happy it turned out this way.”

Actresses such as Christina Applegate, Rita Wilson, Olivia Wilde have started crusading against Obamacare once they realized that corners were being cut by encouraging women to postpone mammograms. Wilde actually did ads promoting Obamacare before her change of heart. The House star said “I care very deeply about the women in my life and about preventing cancer in their lives. I’m a big proponent of early detection and early screening and I want to make sure people are educated about that.”

People are slowly waking up to the fact that this plan is so bad. With the recent exodus of Hollywood, maybe there’s hope for Washington yet.
