Satire from The Endive…

NASCAR veterans Dick Trickle, Greg Biffle and Rich Bickle came together in a rare panel discussion yesterday after Jamie McMurray’s Daytona 500 victory.

“McMurray was in quite a pickle,” said Trickle to Bickle, “Dale Earnhart, Jr., was coming up fast.”

Roush Racing’s Greg Biffle agreed.

“Dale Junior’s car was faster than a sniffle,” said Biffle as he stifled a giggle, “He was eatin’ away on McMurray like a dog takes a nibble on some kibble.”

Trickle added that Earnhart was closing in like a tribble after a nibble on some quadrotriticali.

Biffle and Bickle didn’t quite understand Trickle and looked at him like he was a sick or ill Trickle.

“NASCAR fans can be a bit fickle,” said Bickle to Trickle as he figured out his odd Star Trek reference, “All I can say, Mr. Trickle, is that for a nickel, I’d sit down for a nibble and watch a tribble without so much as a quibble.”

The panel then discussed issues with the track that caused two red flags during Sunday’s race.

“I was quite tickled,” said Trickle, “That those boys thought they could patch the track using a sickle and a bunch of Chiklets. They had to know nothing was going to stickle in that pothole.”

It was at that point that Greg Biffle felt the need to put an end to the panel discussion.

“Did you just say ‘stickle?’” said Biffle, “Dick, that’s not even a word. I know we’re trying to have a serious discussion about the Daytona 500, but what you’re saying doesn’t make any sense. They didn’t patch the track with Chiklets, for one thing. I think we’re done now.”

Dick Trickle, mostly forgotten by race fans since his retirement, took the rejection quietly and left to return to his trailer in South Carolina.

“Jerkle,” said Trickle.
