Here Come Da Judge

SDJLaughinI have wanted to apply for jobs that I felt I was qualified for, only to read at the end of the ad, “Women and minorities strongly encouraged to apply.”  That is a nice way of saying, “If you are a white male, don’t even bother.”

Discrimination is wrong.  Period. Excluding a qualified individual because of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc. is shameful.  But when it is white males being singled out, no one dares say a word.

With last week’s news that Justice John Paul Stevens will retire, just watch the Radical-in-Chief apply this same bigotry to his next Supreme Court pick.  And if you say anything, the leftists will immediately call you the “R” word.  Or the “S” word for sexist, I guess.

If you remember, it was Ronald Reagan, a Republican, who appointed the first woman to the Supreme Court.  He did it because he felt it was important for the court to be representative of the country as a whole, but more importantly, he appointed Sandra Day O’Connor because he knew she was qualified, skilled, and would make a superb justice.

Should the highest court in the nation mirror the diversity of our society?  Absolutely.  But not solely for show.  That is when equality goes from being noble to being disgraceful.

Aside from trying to make the United States more like Europe, Obama would like the majority of the Supreme Court to be female, black, and Hispanic (Clarence Thomas doesn’t count, though – he’s the wrong kind of black).  And there is nothing wrong with that if the judges are truly the best for the job because of their qualifications, nothing else.  But Obama has an agenda.  He will probably appoint one more justice before his four years are up.  He may even appoint a white male just to show how fair he is.

I think the best choice for the Supreme Court actually is a woman.  She is a judge who is smart, feisty, tough, common sense, and has a proven record.  My pick?  Judith Sheindlin.  She was appointed a judge in New York City by Mayor Ed Koch in 1976 and later became the supervising family court judge in Manhattan.  Obama is obsessed with celebrity – he wanted to make CNN’s Sanjay Gupta Surgeon General – so why not choose Judge Judy?  I know it will never happen.  Obama would probably go for Judge Hatchett first.

You wanted change?  You got it.
