Taylor Swift Gets A Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Award (Finally!)
Written by Greg Victor on June 22, 2010
The Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Awards were given out Thursday night in New York City. The winners included performers ranging from oldies Paul Simon, Earth, Wind and Fire, and seemingly thousand-year-old Leonard Cohen to 20-year-old Taylor Swift. The young country star received the “Hal David Starlight Award.” Presenting Swift with the award, John Mayer declared that Taylor was “not a product of the hype machine” but instead of “everyone agreeing that something is fabulous. I’ve never in my life seen a more fearless creator.” Swift sang and played acoustic guitar (the song White Horse) and revealed what she loved most about songwriting: “For me, songwriting is an escape – an escape from reality, where you have to say exactly the right thing at exactly the right time.”
In other Taylor Swift news:
The decibel limits for Gillette Stadium in Warwick, Rhode Island were put to the test recently with not only Taylor Swift fans, but also the fans of the other biggest teen pop artist around. For the final show of her “Fearless” tour, Taylor invited the teen superstar Justin Bieber to join her onstage. The “Beebs” put on an opening show for 20 minutes, during which thousands of teenage girls could be heard screaming so loudly they drowned out his hit, “Baby.”
Justin Bieber, of course, is the spawn of marketing genius. He is backed by R and B singer Usher. Bieber, a Canadian, was first seen on YouTube. Bieber signed to Usher’s Raymond Braun Media Group. He quickly became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Meanwhile, back to Taylor:
Swift is taking some time off to record her third album, which will undoubtedly spawn another anthology of number one hits. “I’m actually going to be working on my record nonstop,” she told CMT. “For me, time off is working on a project and writing nonstop and spending all day and all night trying to get the exact perfect word in the second line of the bridge. For me, my life is a crossword puzzle at times. Like when I’m making an album, it’s all about filling in the blanks and making it click. And when it finally does, it’s so worth it.”
How about a duet album between Justin and Taylor?
Naw… it’d never sell.

Once again another article on Taylor Swift commenting on her great writing skills, which she does have a co-writer but no mention of her in this article. The startling omission from this article is that this girl cannot sing. Shame on you for falling in this hype and since she is 20 now-how much longer do you think she will be able to write about high school angst. She is not a country singer and Justin has replaced her in the tween world. Only time will tell for her and her writing-maybe she can write for Justin.
