1. Parcbench’s Top 10 Reasons We’ll Miss 2010

Pop your champagne corks. 2010 was the kind of year that liberals can’t wait to end. Little do they know, it was just the beginning.

10. The Supreme Court Rules. The Citizens United ruling opened the floodgates for free speech in politics. Also – a great excuse to buy stock in Sirius Radio (and make some profit so you can pay more capital gains taxes).
9. The Liberals Went Through Hell. Let’s face it – any year where so much liberal hope “changes” into so much disillusion is a great year.
8. Scott Brown, the Tea Party, and the Media’s Great Awakening. Scott Brown’s January victory in the race to fill Ted Kennedy’s seat was just the beginning. 2010 was marked by the compelling and irresistible growth of The Tea Party. And the mainstream media had to start taking it seriously.
7. Conservative Candidates Demand What’s Right. Conservative candidates challenged almost everything that the liberal institutions have made a mess of. About time.
6. Arizona. Citizens, led by a governor who is an actual leader, took a stand for the rule of law. It almost makes you want to vacation there.
5. Sarah Palin: the Re-Introduction. From a channel whose name says it all, Americans “discovered” a side of Alaskan Sarah Palin that the networks would never allow. Talk about a reality check. Her show definitely made you want to vacation there.
4. The Shellacking. Here’s to hoping folks never stop using the word “shellacking” when it comes to 2012. The Dems were pummeled in November. And more than a few liberal went down. Russ Feingold. Alan Grayson. John Hall. Patrick Murphy.
3. Obama, the Wimp. Liberals really started regretting they didn’t make history by electing the first woman president. Obama was like a chess king repeatedly moving among the same three spaces on a chess board, desperately trying to avoid checkmate. Don’t worry – that’ll come in 2012.
2. The Continued Rise of the Tea Party. The Tea Party kept on keeping on – especially in Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania. And the Tea Party Express got wall-to-wall media coverage. I’ll drink to that.
1. Parcbench Readers. The year 2010 brought us all of that. And we’re still here. Thanks to you. Happy New Year, and thanks for reading.
