New Muse song: 'Undisclosed Desires'

It’s safe to say Muse is quickly becoming a Parcbench favorite, what with their freedom-lovin’, libertarian leanings (which Roy Antoun wrote about last week).  Even Glenn Beck has expressed his affinity for the band. Their new album The Resistance is due for release on September 15th and is available for pre-order on Amazon.
About a week [...]

Jay-Z advances release date of “The Blueprint 3″ to Sept. 8 after album leak

On September 7, 2009 at 3:24 pm

There has been much hype surrounding Jay-Z’s upcoming album The Blueprint 3 which was originally scheduled to be released on Sept. 11. I find it  a bit distasteful to pick such an ominous date for an album release so this advancement is welcomed.
After the album leaked online,  it will now be released tomorrow Sept. 8. [...]

New episode of VH1’s Behind The Music on Sept. 10 (VIDEO)

New episode of VH1's Behind The Music on Sept. 10 (VIDEO)

I am terribly excited for this! This was the best show VH1 had and after it was canceled, VH1 has gone downhill with their horribly tacky reality TV shows. After announcing the comeback of Behind the Music back in March, VH1 is now getting ready to air the newest BtM episode since 2002. And who [...]

Malaysian government lifts Black Eyed Peas Muslim ban

Last week I wrote about the ridiculous ban the Malaysian government had imposed on Muslims who wanted to attend an upcoming Black Eyed Peas concert. The ban was due to Guinness’ sponsorship of the concert. Muslims are prohibited from consuming any alcoholic beverages under Islamic law.
Officials have now reversed that ban with the condition that [...]

Whitney Houston’s “I Look To You” (Music Review)

Whitney Houston's

Whitney Houston’s new album, “I Look To You” has finally been released (a day earlier than scheduled). Good thing I had a chance to listen to it over and over and over last weekend. Here’s the scoop:
So how is our champion doing these days? The vocal sprints and runs have been replaced by the sure [...]

Them Crooked Vultures announce tour dates

I wrote about the formation of this supergroup about a month ago. To refresh your memory, band members include Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). Uh, yes please! Now they’re getting ready to embark on their first official tour which kicks off October 1st [...]

Muse: Closet Libertarians?

Muse: Closet Libertarians?

On September 15th, Muse will be releasing their latest album The Resistance featuring 11 new tracks, three of which are part of a symphony written by singer Matthew Bellamy. The songs, as usual, are conspiracy driven, galaxy-influenced, and catchy as hell.
Only two of the tracks have been released thus far, “United States of Eurasia” and [...]

Parcbench Mixtape #2

On August 31, 2009 at 9:05 am

I promised at least one mixtape a week so here’s mixtape número dos. Again, no theme in particular — just a bunch of good stuff. If you have any suggestions for the next mixtape, let me know!
Right-click on link and save as mp3.

Whitney’s Comeback: Didn’t She Almost Have It All?

On at 1:08 am

No legend ever likes the word “comeback.” Who wants to admit that no entertainer (no matter how much of a legend) can stop time? Like it or not, if you are a pop superstar you are on a constant treadmill that seems only to speed up. The best a star can do is try to [...]

New, Unreleased Elliott Smith Song

New, Unreleased Elliott Smith Song

This is incredible! I’m a huge Elliott Smith fan and I probably would’ve liked any unreleased song by him. But this song is actually good. Scratch that, it’s great! I love it! The song is called “Grand Mal” and Smith probably recorded it during the XO sessions. The song was posted two days ago on [...]

Chris Brown: The Next Michael Jackson Or R. Kelly?

On at 8:05 am

Earlier this week, justice was meted out to formerly transcendent R&B singer Chris Brown in a case that left his former girlfriend, pop songbird Rihanna, battered and bruised in a February 8th altercation in Los Angeles. Brown was sentenced to five years probation and 180 days of community labor as part of a plea deal [...]
