“Alice in Wonderland” (Review) It’ Ain’t Your Mama’s Alice Anymore

by: Dr. LoreneWales

For those of you who may not be familiar with Burtons’ work, he is a writer, director, producer, and sometimes actor.  Ever since he hit the mainstream with Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, he’s been entertaining audiences with his dark, wry humor and eclectic adaptations of classic stories.  Films like Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands [...]

Boston Globe Publishes Election Results 7 Hours Early!

BOSTON GLOBE PUBLISHES ELECTION RESULTS 7 HOURS EARLY
Earlier today, the Boston Globe posted online the results of the Massachusetts special election for U.S. Senate.  A screenshot of the posting reveals a razor-thin 1% victory for Martha Coakley over Scott Brown with 100% of precincts reporting.  The only problem with the post, however, is that it [...]

Underpants Bomber Special Guest at Michelle Obama Surprise Birthday Party

On at 7:53 am

from The Endive…
First Lady Michelle Obama got more than she bargained for when Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, better known as the Underpants Bomber, showed up as the guest of honor at her surprise birthday party.
“This is all, well, it’s a misunderstanding,” said President Barack Obama, who spent days arranging the party, “I really thought I had [...]

Obama’s Kiss of Death

Obama’s Kiss of Death

Congratulations to Democratic Senatorial Candidate Coakley, the latest recipient of the Obama’s Kiss of Death. President Obama appeared at a lackluster event in Boston where the room with a meager 3000 person capacity couldn’t even be filled, something the almost never happens for a Presidential appearance. He then proceeded to spend the majority of his time trashing Coakley’s opponent in between shouted downs by anti abortion protesters. The result was nothing short of a complete blowout.

Gilbert Arenas, You are an Idiot!!

Gilbert Arenas, You are an Idiot!!

Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards has pleaded guilty to felony weapons charges.
In case you haven’t heard, Arenas brought unloaded guns into the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., and kept them in his lockers. Then (just in case that wasn’t dumb enough) he took them out in a failed attempt at humor during a dispute with [...]

My Blue Alien Heaven

My Blue Alien Heaven

In Peter Weir’s “The Truman Show,” Noah Emmerich’s character Marlon commented on the sky above as he talked life and love with Jim Carrey.
The two gaze at a sunset, during which Marlon brought up the brush the “big guy” upstairs used to sculpt the moment. The big guy upstairs wasn’t the “big guy,” as we [...]

Haiti Relief

Ironically, in a move modeled after Bush, Obama has turned to his two predecessors to do the job. The fact that this is probably the wisest move he will ever make, notwithstanding; it’s most curious, considering his response to Bush’s Hurricane Katrina. Maybe he feels he is being charitable, or maybe it is a move [...]

The Ladies Room: Your Glittering Lady Business

Remember those crystal tattoos that were outrageously popular a few years back? Ever want one on your muffin?
Jennifer Love Hewitt glamed out her bajingo and isn’t afraid to talk about it. In fact, she included an entire chapter about it in her book. Yes, she has a relationship book. (Dramatic pause for laughter.)
“Vagazzling” is the [...]

“THE SPY NEXT DOOR” (Film Review)

* (out of 4)
Director: Brian Levant
Rated: PG (mild violence)
I actually kinda liked this movie the first time I saw it. Of course, back then it starred Vin Diesel and was called “The Pacifier.” This second time, however was a different story. I think. Honestly, there may have been a good 15 minutes of cinematic brilliance [...]

“The Lovely Bones” (Film Review)

On January 15, 2010 at 6:48 am

Anyone who has dealt with death knows that it is one of the hardest things to cope with. Those of us who had to deal with death as a child know how difficult it is to comprehend the finality of it at such a young age. This is a subject that is tough to portray [...]

Deity Death Match

When I was a kid, there was a term used to describe a natural disaster. It was called an “Act of God”. As the good parochial school boy I was, the terminology didn’t coincide with my religious teachings. After all, God was one angry guy in the Old Testament.
Floods. Fires. Locusts. Lot’s wife.
Truly, when there [...]

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Game Review)

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Game Review)

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for Gamecube was a good game.  Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers for Wii, is not a good game.  In fact, Crystal Bearers goes down as another entry on the growing list of unfortunate blatant FF spin off cash-ins.  Any fan boy should feel aggrieved, and will be left nursing [...]
